Little Yellow (Pyrisitia lisa)

Description: A small yellow butterfly with a thick black margin in males (margin reduced in females). Unlike the other sulphurs, the Little Yellow lacks spots on the wings. Wingspan: 31 to 36 mm.

Flight Period: Mid June to September.

Host Plant: A variety of legumes (Fabaceae).

Notes: This resident of the southeastern United States migrates north annually, in some years reaching southern Canada. Prior to the Atlas the species was known from four Nova Scotia records and one New Brunswick record.
